Soenke is an expert on understanding past and future sea-level changes. Soenke uses a combination of observations and models to disentangle the individual contributors of sea-level changes globally and regionally. In MissDelta, he uses a novel tide gauge dataset covering large parts of Southern Louisiana provided by USACE to disentangle climate-related sea-level changes from local subsidence and update sea-level projection for processes not yet included.
